Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Octagonal Plate with 'Arms of Martin'

The crest with motto 'Ingratis Si Vere Netas', within grisaille floral swag border, with label for Elinor Gordon Oriental Lowestoft Villanova, PA.

9 1/4 in. diam.

Note: This service with the crest and motto of Martin of Gibliston in Fifeshire, Scotland, is illustrated by a dish in the first volume of Chinese Armorial Porcelain, p.617, by David Sanctuary Howard (published 1974). An image of this plate will be used in an upcoming new edition of the work.

Condition:

Minor rubbing to polychrome and glaze stains.
