ATTRIBUTED TO JACQUES-LOUIS DAVID (1748-1825): TÊTE DE FEMME COIFEÉ À L'ANTIQUE

Black chalk with white highlights on brown paper, 1770 (?), signed 'L. David' and 'D', and indistinctly inscribed lower right, with a sketch on the reverse. 14 1/2 in. x 11 in. (sheet), 25 in. x 22 in. (frame). Note: This work is not included in Pierre Rosenberg's Jacques-Louis David, 1748-1825: Catalogue raisonné des dessins.

Research is ongoing.

Condition:Creasing showing mostly at right. Several pin holes and tiny skinned spots. The sheet edges irregular and with small losses and tears. A piece of old masking tape on the reverse. Taped to the overmat with white tape at places on the reverse of the sheet edges.
