Anglo-American Cotton and Silk Needlework Fragment

9 x 13 1/2 in. (sight), 14 x 20 3/4 in. (frame).

Note: It is speculated that this fragment has been in the possession of Judge Peter Van Ness of Kinderhook, NY (1734-1804). It was then inherited by his daughter Gertrude Van Ness Hoffman (1772-1852) and then her daughter, Catherine D. Hoffman who married Henry George Philip who’s son is William Henry Philip (1825-1881)who purchased Talavera in Claverack, NY.

The fragment with some staining and pulls to embroidery.
