After Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641): Christ on the Cross

Oil on canvas, unsigned, lined.

41 x 30 in., 47 1/2 x 36 in. (frame).

Note: This composition is the same as that of Van Dyck's 1627 oil on panel of the same title in the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection (Inv. no. CTB.1995.26). Several versions of this composition are considered as workshop paintings or made by artists within Van Dyck's circle.

Condition:

Lined. Craquelure with scattered inpainting. An area of inpainting upper center above the head and another lower center below the feet. A few tiny scuffs. Surface soiling.
